The classic first trip to north India, paced for families. Two nights in Delhi for Old and New Delhi and Akshardham, one night in Agra so that you see the Taj Mahal at sunrise before the crowds, and two nights in Jaipur for the forts and palaces. Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar's abandoned capital, breaks the drive from Agra to Jaipur.

Day 1
Pick-up from Delhi airport or railway station and transfer to the hotel. In the evening visit Swaminarayan Akshardham and stay for the water show (Akshardham is closed on Mondays).

Day 2
A full day with your guide: Jama Masjid and a drive through Chandni Chowk, Red Fort (outside), Raj Ghat, then New Delhi - Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, the Lotus Temple, India Gate and the Kartavya Path past Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Day 3
Drive to Agra on the Yamuna Expressway (about 3.5 to 4 hours). Afternoon at Agra Fort, then sunset at Mehtab Bagh across the river, the best place to see the Taj in evening light.

Day 4
Enter the Taj Mahal as the gates open at sunrise. Back for breakfast, check out and drive to Jaipur, stopping at Fatehpur Sikri - Akbar's red-sandstone capital with Buland Darwaza and the tomb of Salim Chishti.

Day 5
Morning at Amber Fort (by jeep up the hill), with a photo stop at Jal Mahal on the way. Afternoon in the old city: City Palace, the Jantar Mantar observatory (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and Hawa Mahal. Evening in the bazaars of Johari and Bapu Bazar.

Day 6
After breakfast, drive back to Delhi (about 5 to 6 hours) for your flight or train - or end the trip at Jaipur airport.

Breakfast and dinner daily at the hotels; vegetarian meals on request. Lunch at restaurants on the way.
Transportation
Private AC car with driver. Delhi to Agra about 230 km (3.5 to 4 hours on the Yamuna Expressway); Agra to Jaipur about 240 km (5 hours with the Fatehpur Sikri stop); Jaipur to Delhi about 280 km (5 to 6 hours).
The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday. Red Fort, Akshardham and the Lotus Temple are closed on Mondays - we arrange the days around your arrival date. Taj tickets are bought online; food, tripods, drones and large bags are not allowed inside, and mobiles go through security. December-January mornings in Delhi and Agra can be foggy, which may delay drives and hide the Taj at sunrise. Carry photo ID for hotels and monuments.
