Jawai is one of the best places in India to see leopards in the open. The big cats live on granite hills around Rabari herding villages, and safaris by open jeep follow local trackers at dawn and dusk. Between safaris, the Jawai Bandh reservoir offers crocodiles and, in winter, flamingos and other migratory birds.

Day 1
Leave Ahmedabad early and drive via Palanpur, Abu Road and Sirohi to Jawai (about 6 hours). Check in, rest, then head out on your first safari into the granite hills as the leopards become active.

Day 2
A dawn safari for leopards returning to their rocks, then breakfast. Later visit a Rabari herders' settlement and the Jawai Bandh reservoir, known for crocodiles and, in winter, flamingos. Evening safari.

Day 3
An optional early safari, breakfast, then the drive back to Ahmedabad.

Private AC car from Ahmedabad (about 300 km, 6 hours each way) and open safari jeeps in Jawai.
Leopards are wild animals: sightings are likely but never guaranteed. Safaris start around sunrise and late afternoon; carry warm layers in winter.
